Retail PDF Remediation

Microlink’s Retail PDF Remediation Service

Microlink offers an easy-to-follow service to make your everyday PDFs accessible for disabled people. We work with documents from 1 to 750 pages, and up to 10 documents at a time.

  • What does “remediation” mean?
It means ensuring your PDFs are fixed so that they are easier to use for disabled people.
  • Making your PDFs accessible
We make sure your PDFs meet accessibility standards (PDF/UA and WCAG 2.2 AA), so they work well with screen readers.
  • What’s a screen reader?
It’s a tool that reads out loud what’s on the screen, helping blind or visually impaired people use digital content.
  • How fast is the service?
We can usually fix 50 to 100 pages per day, depending on how complex the documents are.
  • Are you a charity?
If you’re a registered charity, send us a letter on your letterhead with your logo and address. We’ll discuss alternative pricing.
  • Need help?
We’ll guide you through each step to make your PDFs accessible.

Getting Started

  • Send us a sample PDF
Just one file or a few that represent the rest. For example, three to five files.
  • Free check-up
We’ll review your PDFs for free to see if they are ready. We’ll check things like colour contrast, tags, and fonts.
  • What if there are problems?
If the issues are simple, we’ll fix them. If they’re more complex, we’ll let you know what’s needed.
  • Got source files?
If you have the original files (like Word or InDesign), fonts and images, we may ask you to send these as they help us fix things more easily.
  • Design accessibility recommendations
If your document has colour contrast issues, we can suggest design changes to improve accessibility as part of our paid for service.
