Home of the Neuroinclusive Classroom

a unique philosophy combining technology and wellbeing

Welcome to Microlink Education, home of the neuroinclusive classroom.

The challenge

Nationally, spending on SEND provision across England is currently unsustainable. Local Authorities have been allowed to accrue debts, which may top £7 billion in 2027.

While demands for mainstream schools to become “more inclusive” and for mainstream classrooms to accommodate a wider range of needs are growing, SEND EHCP systems and processes are overwhelmed.

Teachers and SENCOs are already overstretched, neurodivergent children’s needs are not being met, leading to exclusion or placement in expensive alternative provision.

The Solution

For the past three years, Microlink has been developing a unique unifying approach that aims to do two things:

  1. Enhance and improve Inclusive practice
  2. Save money

The two are not mutually exclusive. Welcome to the concept of the Neuroinclusive Classroom!

  • Uses existing and emerging AT (Assistive Technologies) in mainstream classrooms to enable all children to learn more effectively, more independently, especially benefiting neurodiverse children across the full ability range. Many of these technologies are free and built-in to platforms that schools use daily.
  • Adopts the principles of universal design and embraces the social model of disability, making teaching and learning more accessible to more children, lowering the cost of targeted interventions and diagnostic assessments, so that specialist resources serve the children who need them the most.
  • Supports adaptive teaching, enhancing significantly the impact of good child-centred practice and well-organised lessons. Wholesale change is not required: we advocate evolution not revolution.
  • Transforms the role of Teaching Assistants, from help and support to one of empowerment and supporting independence.
  • Addresses the culture and climate of the classroom through developing social and emotional accessibility, and extending the concept of physical accessibility beyond lifts, ramps and wider doors.
  • Opens a pathway to the more expansive use of AI in schools and in the classroom, built on firm foundations of knowledge, understanding and collective experience.
