Congratulations to Leicester City Area Partnership

Congratulations to the Leicester City Area Partnership for attaining Youth Justice SEND Quality Lead Status with a Child First Commendation

Leicester City Area Partnership has achieved the Youth Justice SEND Quality Lead Award with a Child First Commendation at the first time of asking.

This deserved award is a reflection of committed and sustained multi-agency collaboration, driven by both the energy and enthusiasm of front-line operational teams as well as joined up and well-executed strategic thinking and asset management:

  • The protocols that link the teams are robust and effectively actioned by all team members
  • Focussed activity across a range of standing meetings (such as CYJPS SEND Panel, Case Management and Diversity Panel) ensure that needs are identified and addressed as quickly as possible. This includes working positively and constructively with the education estate
  • Preventative work by the Early Intervention Team is well established and very effective, built on excellent working relationships with primary and Secondary establishments, and SEND Support services
  •  In addition, the Partnership includes a REACH Teamthat delivers an intensive mentoring programme specifically designed to reduce school exclusions. The programme engages children at critical, teachable moments and targets children aged 11 to 16 who are at risk of suspension or exclusion from mainstream education, are persistently absent from school, or are involved in, or vulnerable to, antisocial behaviour or offending.
  •  Partnership working is further strengthened through their participation in Target 25,a multi-agency meeting focused on care-experienced children who are not currently receiving the statutory 25 hours of education per week. The primary aim of this meeting is to ensure that all children in care meet or exceed their educational attainment targets and are supported in pursuing their aspirations. Through collaborative problem-solving, the group addresses complex cases and develops tailored, effective plans to help each child achieve both their educational and personal goals.
  • Area Teams are proactive in their relationships with the Secure Estate, to ensure continuity of provision in and out of custody
  • Positive ETE (Education, Training and Employment) outcomes are underpinned by excellent relationships with 16+ providers such as the City College, Connexions and Alterative Provision: in fact, regular planning meetings ensure that provision is matched to emerging needs
  • Particularly noteworthy is the lengths to which the partner services ensure that the Child’s Voice informs review and improvement activity, across operational and strategic fora

Well done Leicester City!
