Congratulations to the Lambeth Area Partnership for attaining Youth Justice SEND Quality Lead Status (Redesignation) with a Child First Commendation
Lambeth QL Re-Designation Certificate
The Lambeth Area Partnership continues to grow from strength to strength, following on from a really positive Quality Lead Award three years ago.
The relationships between Service Partners are underpinned by robust Terms of Reference that are exemplary, ranging from SEND Operational Meetings all the way through to the Vulnerable Pupil Management Group and Alternative Provision Strategic Management Group Meetings, as well as the Safety Management Panel and SEN Panel. The Lambeth Youth Justice Service is represented at all such meetings, with joint responsibilities and accountabilities for children in youth justice pathways articulated clearly and explicitly.
Perhaps the best example of this is YJS-Lambeth Education and Skills Joint Protocol, a statement of intent and action that is Child First in every way, referencing preventative wider opportunities such as absent children and post-16 NEET.
This is exemplified by detail held with the various Board’s Terms of Reference. For example, the SEND and Alternative Provision Strategic Partnership Board is responsible for developing and overseeing delivery of a SEND Strategy 2025 – 2030 which is focused on the following priorities:
- Inclusive and sustainable provision
- Effective partnership working
- Smooth transitions with early preparation
- Earlier preparation for adulthood
- Developing the workforce across the partnership
- Amplifying the voice of children, young people, and families
- Timely re-integration to mainstream for those in Alternative Provision. “
The critical relationship with school communities is maintained through regular communication, a strong SENCO network, co-located professionals supporting in-school and reintegration work, and the voice of the child is of great importance to all service leaders, through active engagement with, for example, the Care Leavers Panel. Again, co-located professionals such as Education Lead, Health Co-ordinator, CAMHS, SALT, (Speech and Language Therapist) will support as required.
Well done Lambeth!
