It’s a Multispark 1-2
Round 3 of the Microlink ThunderCat Racing Championship – Fistral Beach

Making a ‘guest appearance’ for the Multispark Racing Team, 2015 World Champion, James Tapp showed that he hasn’t lost his speed or the ‘will to win’ here at Fistral Beach in Cornwall.
Tapp with co-driver Scott Brown won all of the heats they competed in, although in the final, it was their Multispark team mates Bligh Julius and Charlie Hatfield who got the edge after Tapp nearly ejected Brown. A second place in the final and heat wins were enough to secure Round 3 of the Microlink ThunderCat Racing Championship for Tapp and Brown.

Julius was contented with his second place, particularly as he split his good prop in one of the earlier heats. Rob Davies and Darren Phillips driving Microlink – Ahmad Tea, had an excellent day. They took 4 heat wins and a third place in the final giving them the the final place on the podium.

It was a particularly pleasing day for the Seavaction team of Simon Matthews and Martin Jerome. At this race last year, Jerome suffered a serious leg injury which was to lead to a lengthy stay in a Cornish hospital. A year later, the crew were back together and they put in a mighty impressive 4th place overall.

David Finlayson has teamed up with Mike Littler this season in Haggis Hunters. Although his new co-driver isn’t Scottish, he doesn’t hold it against him and the pairing are grinding out some pretty solid results. A fifth place overall today showed that they are on track to challenge for wins fairly shortly.

The Surf wasn’t Up as Multispark dominate again
Round 4 of the Microlink ThunderCat Racing Championship

Round 4 of the 2016 Microlink ThunderCat Racing Championship was competed for under blue skies and slight conditions. The racers come here for the surf, although that was absent, the action was fast and furious. It was Déjà vu for podium places, the same 3 boats did exactly what they did the previous day.

James Tapp and Scott Brown took the win in Multispark #61 while Bligh Julius and Charlie Hatfield had to settle for the runners up spot again, although they had the satisfaction of steering Multispark #33 to a win in the final.

Rob Davies and Darren Phillips driving Microlink – Ahmad Tea had another consistent day and had their ‘Le Mans’ start procedure been a little quicker they may have added to their pair of heat wins.

In the final analysis, third was a worthy place when racing against multi champions Tapp and Julius.
Chef, Offshore 3A World Champion and Topsham celebrity, Tom Williams was having a very solid morning competing in the heats until he decided to try out something different.

Williams has been racing his ThunderCat for nearly 3 years and experienced his first flip today. Getting boxed in and hitting the wakes of leading boats, Broad Bean rose to the sky, performed a somersault and landed the wrong way up.

Galaxy Girls, Joanna Foxx and Ria Pandey were racing together for the first time this weekend, while learning their new trade they certainly enthralled the spectators and many snappers with their airborne antics. Jo from Poland is obviously following the in tradition of daredevil Polish flyers as she had ‘Galaxy Girls – Ahmad Tea’ aiming for the sky on numerous occasions.
