With the success of the Paralympics developing a wider understanding of the strengths of diversity, this year’s Diversity and Equality Awards were particularly significant.

The winners showcased the continued successful drive towards greater inclusivity in the Civil Service, with showcase achievements being made in the UK and abroad.

This year’s awards judging panel comprised of notable individuals including the Chief Executive of the Equality and Human Rights Commission and the Diversity Champion and HM Procurator-General and Treasury Solicitor. The criteria by which the nominees were judged included:

  • Promotion or demonstration of the core values and behaviours set out in the Civil Service Code
    • Measurable benefits, with evidence about how the project or programme is having a tangible effect
    • Working in partnership
    • Sustainability
    • Innovation
    • Diversity
