Giving patients their sight back- Schoolboy given goggles to regain sight

SightPlus is a wearable headset that can be used to magnify close-up or far-away objects, change the contrast or apply custom filters to anything you are looking at. It is hands-free, portable and easy-to-use for a large variety of tasks.

SightPlus combines the capabilities of a near-distance magnifier and long-distance telescope. It is designed for applications during stationary use such as reading, watching TV, recognising people’s faces and a large variety of hobbies (from painting to playing music, crafts, theatre or sports events). SightPlus is NOT designed to be a mobility aid and can NOT be used to walk  or to drive.

Charlie Mason can see better than he has for years thanks to new technology.

Charlie has Stargardt’s, which is an inherited form of macular degeneration.

After testing SightPlus, his mother said: “Let’s just say it has been life-changing for Charlie. I have had the pleasure of seeing Charlie in school every day and seen how he has not only used SightPlus but has grown in confidence about Stargardt’s and openly spoken to children in every class about his new gadget and what it enables him to do.”
